Principal's welcome

Welcome to Dickson College

Hello and welcome to our wonderful school. Dickson College is a place of Excellence, Opportunity and Community. We pride ourselves on providing a vibrant, supportive and engaging learning environment for all students. To meet the needs of each and every individual student we have a broad range of innovative, exciting and challenging programs for all learners.

Our programs foster personal connection and diversity. Our college is full of happy students who have embraced the many opportunities that the Dickson College community has to offer. Our academic results are outstanding and are improving each year. We have increasing numbers of students achieving ATARs over 80 and 90, obtaining Senior Secondary Certificates, as well as students completing Vocational Education Programs in a range of industry areas. Although we acknowledge we are improving, we will continue to strive to enhance the educational outcomes of every student.

Dickson College embraces every student as an individual, with their own unique talents, dreams and interests. Our aim is to support and challenge each student to grow and thrive. The diversity of our College is unique, as our students also include those of the only Secondary Introductory English Centre in the ACT. In addition, we have fantastic programs for students who are refugees, those who require extension and enrichment, International Private Students, exchange students, students with disability and students in our Connect 10 program.

Our students are engaged in a broad and rich curriculum, supported by excellent teachers and administrative staff. They are involved in a range of local, national and international projects, including the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle program, Global Relations courses, significant Arts programs, and a number of language programs. They work closely with mentors in the community in a range of subject areas and we have strong ties with tertiary and national institutions across Canberra and beyond.

At Dickson College we believe that the well-being of our students, staff and community is fundamental to a successful future. Our Student Services and Wellbeing team works proactively with a range of service providers, careers and transitions advisors, and an experienced pastoral care team. All students are enrolled in a weekly program called Clubs and Communities which allows them to be supported in their current study program, planning their future pathways and also opportunities to pursue areas of personal interest.

There is a lot going on at our college and as we continue to work on our thriving learning community, we invite you to be involved. We see students, parents and the community as critical friends in our future success. We are developing new innovative ways to connect families to the college and to foster student voice, as we have a firm belief in the notion that we can achieve great things together.
