Transition to college
Transition to college is an exciting time, but it can be difficult. At Dickson, we have a strong transition team who are available to support students as they settle in to college life.
We have a targeted support program and general support program to assist transition.
The most important thing to know is this: if you need support at any time during college, you can visit our Student Engagement
Centre and access personalised support.
Visit the Student Engagement Centre or the Careers Office in N Block if you have any transitions questions or concerns; they are connected by the red carpet.
Dickson College School Board Podcast:
Get advice from parents who have been through the ACT college system
A group of parents of graduating Year 12 students thought it might be helpful to incoming Dickson College parents if they captured some of the things they learned as College parents in a podcast format. The interviews cover issues like managing the transition to college, how to get help and helping students make subject choices. The parents who made the recordings stress that these were their experiences with their children and your circumstances may be different. Parents are encouraged to talk to their student's engagement advisor or the other helpful staff at Dickson College for specific advice.
